Usually the parade is on Sunday evening.  They come right by my boat slip which is next to the Algonquin.  Last year there was less than 10 boats in the parade.  There used to be a lot more.

Anyone going to be at LogBay Monday for the Christmas Parade?  We'll be on the lake that day and plan on checking it out.

Just change the filter and add enough oil to replace what you lose.  Oil filters aren't made to last that long.

You should really change the oil and filter but I'm sure you know that already.

Check the oil filter

That seems to be the general area where the oil is leaking from.  I was a bad boat owner and didn't change the motor oil/filter this year.  So if the the filter is old/dirty, could it be spitting oil from there?  The pressure is good, the engine temp is good, when I check the levels with the dipstick, it is good, and it seems to only leak when the engine is running.

try spraying the area where oily residue is present with some cleaner degreaser. then wipe everything clean. start motor let it warm-up. check for leak. if still can't find it,go for a short ride and run it thru the rpm range a couple times. this will give the motor a chance to build some crankcase pressure which should force oil out of the source leak spot.try finding it again. use a white paper towel to check bottom side of areas you can't see very good.

Can't really help with the mechanic but I can give you a couple of places to look for the cause.

Check the oil filter
If you have a remote oil filter, check the oil lines and where the oil lines connect to the engine.
Also, make sure you don't have too much oil in the engine causing it to push out the dip stick hole when under pressure.

Good Luck

Any recomendations for a mechanic?  I seem to be leaking some engine oil and probably need someone besides myself to look at it.

Thanks.

Dave - this will be an outdated message but my family used to camp for 2-3 weeks every summer on Mallory Island betw the years 64-77 and we loved it. Wild blueberries for pancakes, plenty of inlets to swim in, nice large rocks for jumping into the lake from. In those days, there were no homes nearby. I'm sure it's still a great place. Good luck!
